In simple terms, solar panels are installed on the rooftop that generate direct current. Along with this, a solar inverter is connected to the system that converts DC electricity into AC electricity. Solar panels combined with solar inverter is called a Solar PV System and its output can be used for appliances used in homes or businesses.
Yes. Solar power can run a household or an entire factory. You need to set up the rooftop solar system as per the requirement. Also, the system works in parallel with your electricity utility and so on the days when you require more electricity than what the solar system is generating, you can take it from your regular electricity service provider.
The rooftop solar system will be providing the power for your household appliance utility. If the solar system produces more than the appliances need then the surplus is exported back to the grid (Export). If the solar system produces less than what is required, you will consume electricity from your electricity service provider (Import). This process is called net metering. Your monthly electricity bill will be the net units you consume. (Import – Export = Net units.)
So for example you imported 250 units and exported 200, your monthly bill will be for 50 units.
No. The net metering system runs on a system where whatever excess power your rooftop solar generates gets exported back to the grid for later usage. So you don’t have to store extra power in battery.
The solar system will still work on a cloudy day but on a lower efficiency. So majority of the day of the year the solar system will provide extra power to your grid and approximately 60-65 days the system will be at lesser efficiency. We take that into consideration and based on your region we provide you the estimate of how many days will be cloudy/rainy as compared to sunny days. That’s how we do the calculations for your solar requirements as well as payback.
The system provided by Solarays Urja comes with a life of about 25 years, you won’t have to replace the solar panel or the inverter for this span of time
system hardly requires any maintenance. You just need to clean the solar panels placed on the roof regularly just like you clean your glass windows. That is easy and we will let you know how to do it yourself.
If you feel that you can not handle the cleaning and require a professional touch. You can sign an annual maintenance contract (AMC) where we will provide you with maintenance services.
Your net metering system won’t work once there’s a power cut. This is a built in safety feature to prevent electrocution and loss of life of the maintenance technician working on the power lines to repair your power supply.
If you face a lot of power cuts in your area, you have the option of going with a hybrid system (with batteries). The system with battery however will charge higher and the cost will increase by at least 30-40%. Batteries also require maintenance and need to be replaced every 3-4 years.
